Asian Range → London Breakoutsession opening range breakout
Genuine EUR and GBP flow is thin through Tokyo hours, so price compresses into a narrow range. At the London open the largest share of global FX turnover comes online, and that compression breaks.
The range is fixed at 07:00 GMT. After that the high and the low do not move, whatever price does. This is the part of the rule most often broken.

Exact rules
Entry
- Asian range = the high and low of 00:00–07:00 GMT, taken from M15 data.
- Width filter: range width < the 20-day average Asian range. A wide range means no compression happened — skip the day.
- BUY: M15 CLOSE > range high. SELL: M15 CLOSE < range low.
- Valid window is 07:00–11:00 GMT only. No new entry after that.
- OCO: when one side fills, the other order is cancelled.
- News filter: if a high-impact release falls between 07:00 and 09:00 GMT, either skip the day or wait until fifteen minutes after it — test both variants separately.
Stop loss
- Beyond the opposite side of the range (below the range low for a long), or 1 × range width — whichever is tighter.
- Typically 15–35 pips on EURUSD.
- Risk 0.5% per trade. The range is small, so the position size comes out large — that is deliberate, but the exposure to slippage is just as large.
Take profit / exit
- TP1 = 1 × range width → close half the position.
- TP2 = 2 × range width, or exit at the London close — whichever comes first.
- Hard time exit at 16:00 GMT. This matters more than the take profit: the edge is session-bound, so the position has to be session-bound too.
