Local-Hours Currency Momentumthe time-of-day tilt
FX returns carry a documented time-of-day pattern: currencies tend to depreciate during their own local trading hours and appreciate during foreign hours.
For EURUSD that means European hours put a downward tilt on the pair — the euro is local — and US hours put an upward tilt on it.
This is a statistical tilt, not a trend. The move per bar is very small, and the position size has to reflect that.

Exact rules
Entry
- Define the two windows: European 07:00–13:00 GMT, US 13:00–20:00 GMT.
- For the European window: short EURUSD between 07:15 and 07:30 GMT — the euro is the local currency.
- The US window is a separate trade: long EURUSD between 13:15 and 13:30 GMT — the dollar is local.
- News filter: skip the session entirely if a high-impact release falls inside the window.
- Size smaller than usual. This is a tilt, not a signal.
Stop loss
- European trade: above the Asian session high.
- US trade: below the European session low.
- The stop is mainly tail-risk control here; the primary exit is the clock.
- Risk 0.25%–0.5% per trade — deliberately below normal.
Take profit / exit
- Time exit at the end of the window — 13:00 GMT for the European trade, 20:00 GMT for the US one.
- No price target.
- Optional: if the move has already reached 1.5 × session ATR mid-window, take a partial — but test that as a separate variant.
