Change of Character ReversalCHoCH, then a lower high
A change of character is the first time a trend's own structure fails. In an uptrend: a candle closes below the last higher low.
But it is a warning, not a trade. The trade is the lower high that forms after it.
This is the most honest setup in the set, because its main use is as an exit. If you were long, the change of character is your signal to leave. The entry is one step beyond that.

Exact rules
Entry
- Mark the last higher low of the uptrend.
- Change of character: an M15 candle closes below that higher low.
- Wait. Do not enter on the change of character itself.
- Lower high: price comes back up but stalls below the previous high.
- Trigger: a candle closes lower, showing rejection from that lower high. Enter at its close.
Stop loss
- 0.3 × ATR(14) above the lower high.
- If price closes above that lower high, it was never a lower high — the structure is bullish again.
- Risk 0.5%–1%.
Take profit / exit
- First structural target: the previous swing low, the one formed before the change of character.
- A minimum of 1:2 measured to the lower high.
- Extended: once a downtrend structure is established, trail on the lower highs.

More from Market structure
Trading carries risk and most retail accounts lose money. Nothing on this page is financial advice or a recommendation to trade. The chart is an illustration of the rules on constructed candles — it is not a record of a trade and not a backtest.
