Liquidity Recovery Entrylet the spread come back first

Evidence: ModerateProfessionalNews · Event

Every other approach to a release argues about direction. This one argues about time: liquidity provision and the cost of trading return to their pre-announcement levels within roughly five to fifteen minutes of a release.

So the trade is to do nothing until they have, and then take the direction the market has settled on — paying an ordinary spread for a move that is still running.

You give up the first part of the move. In exchange you are not paying three times the normal spread for the privilege of guessing, which is what the first minute costs.

Exact rules

Entry

  • Be flat at the release. No position, no pending orders.
  • Spread gate: wait until the spread is back within 1.2 × its pre-release average. That is the signal to start looking — typically five to fifteen minutes after the print.
  • Direction: the side the release candle closed on, confirmed by price still being beyond that candle's midpoint when the spread recovers.
  • Trigger: the first M5 candle that closes in that direction after the spread gate passes. Enter at that close.
  • If price has already returned inside the release candle's range by the time the spread recovers, there is no trade. The move did not hold.

Stop loss

  • The midpoint of the release candle.
  • That is the level that defined the direction, so losing it removes the reason for the trade — not merely the profit.
  • Risk 0.5%. Normal size, because you are no longer paying event-sized costs.

Take profit / exit

  • The next structural level beyond the release candle's extreme.
  • Minimum 1:1.5, measured before entry. The late entry costs part of the move, and a target that needs stretching to justify it means the trade has already gone.
  • Time exit ninety minutes after the release.
