Activity Climax Reversalthe bar where everyone finally gave up
A sharp move ends on one enormous bar with far more activity than anything around it, and the reading offered is that the last holders capitulated into buyers who were waiting.
Sometimes that is what happened. Sometimes the same bar is the start of the move rather than the end of it, and the two are indistinguishable at the time. That ambiguity is the whole problem with this page and it is why the trigger below insists on a confirmation bar rather than on the climax itself.
Read the data page in this book before trading anything here. What your platform calls volume on a currency pair is a tick count, and every page in this family depends on knowing what that does and does not measure.

Exact rules
Entry
- Climax bar: activity at least 3 × its 20-bar average, range at least 2 × ATR(14), at the end of an extended move.
- Location filter: the climax must occur at or beyond a known level — a previous extreme, a round number, a session high. A climax in open space is not this setup.
- Trigger: the next bar closes back inside the climax bar's range. Never enter on the climax bar itself.
- One attempt. If price takes out the climax extreme, the move was not exhausted and there is no second reading.
Stop loss
- Beyond the climax bar's extreme, plus 0.3 × ATR(14).
- Wide, because the climax bar is large. The position must be small enough that this is acceptable.
- Risk 0.25%–0.5%. Weak evidence, counter-trend, small size.
Take profit / exit
- Fixed target at 2R, or the midpoint of the move that preceded the climax, whichever is nearer.
- No trailing. This is a reversion trade against a strong move and it has a destination.
- Time stop at ten bars.

Trading carries risk and most retail accounts lose money. Nothing on this page is financial advice or a recommendation to trade. The chart is an illustration of the rules on constructed candles — it is not a record of a trade and not a backtest.
