Strategy library

Rules you can check before you trade them.

Every strategy carries its exact rules, an annotated chart of the setup, the research behind why it should work at all — and the conditions under which you should not take it.

Opening Range Breakout

the first thirty minutes set the day

The first thirty minutes of a session is the day's only genuine two-sided auction — overnight orders, the open, and everyone who waited for it, all in one window. The high and low of that window are the two levels every intraday trader can see.

NR7 Volatility Contraction Breakout

Crabel's narrowest range of seven

NR7 means today's daily range is smaller than every one of the previous six. An objective, binary marker of maximum compression.

Intraday Momentum

opening period predicts closing period

The return of a session's first thirty minutes — measured from the previous session's close — predicts the return of its last thirty minutes.

Displacement Continuation

range and body, nothing else

Displacement is a candle with a large body and small wicks. Two mechanical gates define it: range > 1.5 × the average range of the prior twelve bars, and body ≥ 70% of that candle's range.

Previous-Session High / Low Sweep

liquidity taken, then reversal

Mark the previous session's high and low. Stop orders rest just above and just below those two levels.

Break and Retest (Acceptance)

intraday level, continuation

An intraday level that price has respected two or three times. When price closes through it, comes back, and then holds on the correct side of it, the trade is continuation.

Break of Structure Continuation

BOS, then a higher low

A break of structure is a candle that closes above the previous swing high, in an uptrend. It is a mechanical definition of 'the trend continued' — no more and no less than that.

Premium / Discount in a Dealing Range

a location filter, never a signal

A dealing range runs from a clear swing low to a clear swing high. Its midpoint is equilibrium: the upper half is premium, the lower half is discount.

Fair Value Gap Fill

the thin patch a fast move leaves behind

Three consecutive candles where the first bar's high sits below the third bar's low leave a band of prices that barely traded. Price moved through it too quickly for an auction to happen.

Volume-Confirmed Liquidity Sweep

the spike is the evidence

Stops rest above a level. When price takes it with a wick and closes back inside, that is a sweep.

What the evidence rating means

Strong

The mechanism has peer-reviewed, FX-specific research behind it.

Moderate

The mechanism is sound, but at least one step of it is untested.

Weak

Practitioner literature only — no published research supports the mechanism.

It rates the mechanism — whether there is published research explaining why the market should behave this way. It does not rate profit. Strong does not mean the trade will work. None of these have been run on our own account, and no page here shows a backtest figure.

What the level means

Beginner

One instrument, one timeframe, every rule visible on the chart.

Intermediate

Several conditions have to line up, and execution starts to matter.

Professional

Needs an outside data feed, a basket, real order flow, or an unusual tolerance for lumpy losses.

The level describes what it takes to run the strategy, not how well it works. Several Beginner pages are better evidenced than several Professional ones — a basket carry trade is Professional because it needs eight currencies and a swap table, not because it is cleverer than buying a pullback.

Trading carries risk and most retail accounts lose money. Nothing in this library is financial advice or a recommendation to trade. The charts are illustrations of the rules on constructed candles — they are not records of trades and not backtests.
